Beyond compounding, the twin screw extruder can also be used for shaping in a single process step.
Advantages of direct extrusion / in-line compounding
- The product does not have to undergo a second thermal stress. Consequently, mechanical characteristics of the final product are improved.
- By saving the pelletizing step, the investment costs are reduced tremendously.
- Integration of compounding as a value adding step in one line.
